"In the next two years, 48% of homeowners surveyed are planning to remodel or build an addition.  Bathrooms and kitchens in particular remain the top priority projects among U.S. Houzzers, with 28% of respondents planning a bathroom remodel or addition, and 23% planning a kitchen remodel or addition in the next two years. Kitchens capture the lion’s share of renovation dollars, with four in every ten dollars spent on renovations going to kitchen remodels. Houzz users spent an average of $28,030 on kitchen remodels over the last five years, however spending varies widely at different budget levels. High-end kitchens renovations averaged $54,942, while mid-range kitchens came in at $22,390 and $7,133 was the average spend reported for a lower-budget kitchen. For bathrooms, the nationwide average was $11,566. Homeowners reported spending an average of $25,018 at the high-end, $10,422 for mid-range, and $2.896 on the low end of bathroom renovation projects."
